What we help to solve

In cities across the country there are thousands of physical activity sessions and leisure facilities available right now. The problem is that physical activity sessions and leisure facilities are managed by a myriad of different individuals and organisations that all promote their leisure opportunities in very different ways. This makes it extremely difficult for consumers to discover information relating to all of the leisure opportunities that are available to them in their local area, which creates a significant barrier to participation.

How we solve it

In order to address this problem we have developed an activity finder that utilises open-data to present all physical activity sessions and leisure facilities from multiple providers to consumers via a simple and intuitive web page plugin. This means that when a consumer searches for the activity type of ‘football’, they will be shown detailed information in relation to organised football sessions, football pitches within local parks, and football pitches that can be hired within a leisure centre. What’s more, our product can be integrated into any existing website to ensure a simple and inexpensive integration process for our clients.

What we offer

The Kinetic Insight Activity Finder Plugin integrates simply with your existing website in order to allow consumers to search for any physical activity sessions and leisure facilities that are available via open-data. Our clients can specify the data sources that the activity finder will utilise, which will allow you to decide whether to display leisure opportunity data from all providers or specific providers only.

The activity finder will show results to consumers that contain the following:

  • Name of activity
  • Cost of activity
  • Location of activity (including details of how to get to the location)
  • Date and time of activity
  • The number of spaces available for the activity
  • Session description
  • Search results are shown on a map and in a list
  • Search results can be filtered on by days of the week, time, activity type, age range, and price
  • Option to book sessions where available

The mockup below shows how this could look when implemented into the website of an London Borough, however, we are happy to tailor the final design of the activity finder to a client's specific requirements. As an example of our work in this area, please click here to view an activity finder that we created for Newcastle City Council that integrates with our session management and participation tracking solution, Kinetic Insight Pro.

This product is aimed at both public sector and private sector organisations that wish to simplify the process of discovering and booking physical activity sessions and leisure facilities for consumers.

What we're looking for

We're looking to engage with potential new clients that require help aggregating open-data to display on their existing website for the benefit of all of their consumers. This will result in breaking down some of the barriers that exist to prevent people becoming more active, more often.

Data we use

The Kinetic Insight Activity Finder Plugin utilises the imin Physical Activity Availability API to pull open-data for activity sessions and leisure facilities. Our product also links directly with our session management and participation tracking tool, Kinetic Insight Pro.

Data we create

The Kinetic Insight Activity Finder Plugin generates participation data relating to frequency of participation, participation by activity type, participation by venue etc. There is also scope to allow consumers to create user accounts that will be setup to streamline the checkout process where online payments are required.
